In recent months, the world has learned more about the southern African nation of Zimbabwe - 80% unemployment, astronomical inflation, the AIDS pandemic, and more recently, a serious outbreak of cholera - to name only a few of the problems facing the country that formerly was known as the "breadbasket of Africa." What has gone wrong? And how is the Zimbabwean Church responding to these challenges?
Dr. Victor Nakah was born and raised near Harare, Zimbabwe. First trained as a public school teacher, he later was called to the ministry and studies theology (receiving his doctorate in theology from the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town). Since 2002 he has been president of the Theological College of Zimbabwe, serves on the boards of several para-church organizations, and is uniquely qualified to speak on current issues and solutions related to Zimbabwe. |

This chapel will explore what it takes for us to serve Jesus to our full capacity. With skits, dances and song; Spirit Force, Puppets Praise, Klowns for the Kingdom, Da Blazin Footprintz and God's Kingdom Steppers will show us that serving our king can vary from acting like a clown or just taking time to clear our schedule. |

With the recent talks of immigration and the border wall, the issue of immigration has become one of the most highly debated topics of the year. Nearly 40% of all immigrants to the U.S. come from Asia, 1.5 million of them are undocumented and more than 60% of Asians Americans are foreign born. PAIRWN (The Pennsylvania Immigrant and Refugee Women's Network) based in Enola, PA, is a non-profit organization which advocated for immigrant and refugee women, as well as equipping and empowering these women to reach their fullest potential. Join us as we dive into the complexities of what it means to be an immigrant in the United States, specifically Asian, and how that interconnects with immigrants of all ethnic backgrounds. We will explore the Scriptural teaching from Leviticus 19:33-34: "When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do (the stranger) wrong. The stranger who sojourns with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love (the stranger) as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt." |

| Transracial Adoption: A search for identity 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Transracial and biracial adoption remain controversial today. Some say that children available for adoption should always be placed with a family with at least one parent of the same race or culture so that the child can develop a strong racial or cultural identity. Other experts say that race should not be considered at all when selecting a family for a child. Intertwining her own story as a Korean adopted, Jenna Ness, a recent Messiah graduate, will be facilitating this discussion, sharing her own experiences and research on adoption. |

We will be watching Dark Days, an award winning 2000 documentary chronicling the lives of people who have taken up residence in abandoned submway tunnels beneath Manhattan. With over 2 mission Asians living in the US, a large percentage of this population is comprised of the Indian and South Asian diaspora. Although there is a rich variety of countries and cultures within the continent of Asia, we tend to overlook many of these differences, limiting the definition of "Asian" to a confined space usually associated with China. Join us as we have a panel discussion with current students and local community members from India who will share their story, struggles, and ways to move this conversation forward. |
